History of the Department
Department of Economics and Entrepreneurship in Agriculture, was established in 1936. From 1965 to 1984 the department was called “Economics and Organization of Agricultural Production”. During these years, the department was headed by the Honored Economist of the Kirghiz SSR, Professor EI Arabaev.
Subsequently, the Department of Agricultural Economics was headed by Associate Professor Zh.M. Batyrkanov. (1985-1990), Assoc. Alkadyrov M.A. (1990-1992), prof. Abdymalikov K.A. (1992-1995), prof. Dzhuzenbaev B.Zh. (1995-2004), Assoc. Iskakov T.I. (2005-2007), prof. Dzhumalieva E.B. – “Agrarian economy named after E.I. Arabaev “, (2008-2010), Acting Assoc. Oganova G.O. “Economics and Entrepreneurship in Agriculture named after E.I. Arabaev”(2010-2011), Assoc. Oskonbaev A.B. (2012-2014).
From 2014 to the present, the department is headed by Ph.D., associate professor Sheralieva Zh.A. The department conducts pedagogical and research activities aimed at studying urgent problems and prospects for the growth of the economy of the agricultural sector, taking into account the integration processes in the economy.
Currently, since 2017, the department has been conducting research work funded from the budget of the Ministry of Education and Science of the Kyrgyz Republic on the following topics: “Effective management of agricultural resources” and “Development of agricultural cooperation”.
From March 1 to May 31, 2017, thanks to a cooperation project entitled “Strengthening the Higher Curriculum and Research in Economics and Agribusiness”, at the Norwegian College of Economics and Business at the University of Natural Sciences (NMBU) in As, she completed a PhD internship – candidate Adiyaeva Ch.K.
Senior lecturer of the department Oganova G.O. From 24.03.2019 to 31.03.2019, underwent advanced training under the program of the Erasmus + training event in the compulsory disciplines of the International Master’s Course “Agricultural Management” (IMA): “International Agricultural Marketing Strategies” and “Agrarian Policy” at the Weihenstephan University of Applied Sciences -Triesdorf (Germany).
In the 2020-2021 academic year, teachers of the department conducted classes on the project of the Consortium of Agricultural Universities for the Development of the Countries of Central Asia and the South Caucasus (CASCAD).
The Department of Economics and Entrepreneurship in Agriculture was the initiator of the creation of a Training, Information and Consulting Center to support cooperatives in the Kyrgyz Republic. The center was created in 2018, opened with funding from the Turkish donor organization TIKA.Teachers of the department teach courses in more than 40 assigned disciplines at 6 faculties of the university and at the Institute of Information Systems and Distance Education, in colleges in the Kyrgyz and Russian languages, the total teaching load of the department is about 7000 hours. Standard and working programs and educational and methodological complexes have been developed for all subjects.

The profile “Economics and Enterprise Management” is the preparation of bachelors of economics for calculation-economic, analytical, research, organizational and managerial professional activities of enterprises of any organizational and legal forms.Graduates of the profile “Economics and Enterprise Management” can work as economists and managers in economic, financial, marketing, production and economic, analytical services of enterprises and organizations of various industries, spheres and forms of ownership, in financial, credit and insurance institutions, in state and municipal authorities.After receiving a diploma, bachelors of the “Economics and Management of an Enterprise (Organization)” profile can continue their studies in a master’s program in the following areas: “Economics and Enterprise Management” and postgraduate studies in the following specialties: 08.00.05 “Economics and Management of the National Economy”.The goals of the educational program for bachelors of the “Economics and Enterprise Management” profile are:• training of highly qualified specialists in the field of theory and practice of enterprise activity, the functioning and development of industry markets, the formation of strategy and tactics for the company’s behavior in the market, marketing, pricing, and innovation policies;• formation of a well-educated intellectual personality, ready for creative activity in the field of economic science and practice, capable of self-development and continuous learning;• gaining experience and practical skills in solving economic problems• management problems of a modern enterprise, developing the ability to navigate in conditions of change and uncertainty.In accordance with the requirements of the Educational Standard developed by the Educational and Methodological Association of the University, received “Special Status” in the “Economics” direction, students of the “Economics and Enterprise (Organization) Management” profile study all disciplines of the professional cycle (general professional and basic parts).Economics is the most universal economic specialty, which makes it possible to master the techniques and methods of effectively running a business and organizing production, achieving the best results for enterprises at the lowest cost, as well as ensuring their strategic competitiveness.
